Kapitolyo Food Trip: Mad Mark's

Tuesday, October 25, 2011
So I'm trying to rip off the Maginhawa Street Food Trip. Kapitolyo's evolving into something like Jupiter. There are so many restaurants already. Some of which are Cab Cafe, Good Burger, Thai Dara and more. It's definitely exciting since I love eating.

One of the new establishments is Mad Mark's. Located beside Thai Dara. I don't think you'll miss the sign when you get to Charlie's. The exterior looks awesome. Even when it was not open yet, I was curious on the food they serve. I like how it looks.

And that is what you'll see when you get inside. The ambiance is quite comfortable. It's a place that you'll definitely want to spend time with friends and family. Very casual.

I was a bit full that time so I only ordered their homemade ice cream. They have a variety of flavors. I got the Half Baked Madagascar and Javan Hot Chocolate. Half baked Madagascar is like cookies and cream. But they use half-baked dough as their cookies. Then the Javan Hot Chocolate is chocolate from somewhere. Obviously. But the ice cream was just perfect. I mean, you taste the natural flavors of the ingredients. It's not too sweet. But it's also sweet enough for my tastebuds.

The one on top is the Javan Hot Chocolate. And I definitely think that the price is worth it. You get a big scoop. Even if you just order one scoop (which is what my sister did), she was satisfied with it. And it doesn't melt easily.

Since the place is new, we definitely had to order a sandwich. I do not remember the names, unfortunately. Look at the appetizing sandwiches! The meat looks so juicy. Bread is not the usual loaf. Vegetables used just ooze with flavor. One order of sandwich can fill up your tummy already. If you're in a diet, you can share with someone. And one good thing is you can order add-ons. If you want more cheese and whatsoever, just order it. The picture on top is beef while the one below is fish.

My sister ordered fries. This one is the Cajun flavored (I think). My sister ordered this and her first comment was that it was too peppery. But after a while, you get used to it. It's not like the others that you get tired of it. It kinda tastes better after a number of fries. They have another flavor for the fries, herb parmesan. My sister was choosing between Cajun and Parmesan and tried asking me. She didn't since she knew what my answer was. HAHA. And a bit of information, did you know that French fries are called Frites in France? Awesome right. My professor said that if you order french fries from France, they'll think you're crazy.

I will definitely go back here. I'd like to comment on the waitress there, she was very helpful. She knew a lot about the menu, even the establishment. (I know that it's a given that you know about your establishment, but there are actually a lot of servers that are not knowledgeable.) She knew what the homemade ice cream is made of and more. She's also very welcoming. Always wore a smile. So congratulations to her for delivering excellent service.

So if you live near Kapitolyo (or live inside it), go try it out. And I suggest that you order the homemade ice cream! Instead of buying ice cream from the supermarket, you can go eat their homemade ice cream which is 10 times better than those from the supermarket. Happy eating!
