Lu Restaurant

I already ate here and made a review. We ate here again since my mom had deal grocer coupons. And since we had a different dining experience, I considered making a new one. We ordered the Prix fixe menu or the set menu. The set menu changes everyday. There are two choices, the Gourmet set or Healthy set. Set menu costs around Php 695+. We all ordered the Gourmet set.

 

For the first course, we had the English Pea Soup. I couldn't finish the bowl since I didn't want to feel full. Not really a food critic, so I'll say the soup was okay.

 

The next course was the Falafel Salad. I thought it was very delicious. There were two pieces of Falefel. And I loved the dressing. My sister's comment was that there were only few vegetables in the dish. And olives. And I hate olives.


You could choose from the Bavette with Bottarga Lemon Cream pasta or the Pulled Barbeque Pork Wrap. My sister and I ordered the pasta. I didn't like it much. The lemon overpowered the dish after a few bites. I grew tired of it. We couldn't find or taste the fish. And my mom ordered the pork wrap. It had a side salad and country-fried potatoes. It was a bit messy to eat. The potatoes was awesome. It was crunchy and perfectly salted.


For dessert, I got the Chocolate Torte. I'm not sure. I loved it! I guess since I love chocolate. But it was definitely delicious. My sister got the chocolate cake. It tasted a bit dry. However, the fudge did taste okay.

My brother also ordered something from their main menu. Mushroom risotto! It was a bit few based on the price. But it was awesome. I love risotto.


 

  If I ha lots of money, I'd consider eating here again and get something from their main menu.

My friends and I went to Lu since we had to eat in a Moroccan restaurant. We originally had to eat in a Scandinavian restaurant, but we could not find one. We were then assigned to eat in a Moroccan restaurant. I found Lu when searching the net. Good thing I found one since we really had a hard time finding a good fine dining Moroccan restaurant.

The establishment is located in the Joya Building of Rockwell. Not in Power plant. I originally thought it was inside the mall. We went around 6 pm and no one was there yet. We were the first customers for the night. I was quite disappointed that it was not purely Moroccan restaurant. I mean, I was expecting that the interiors and especially the menu was purely Moroccan. Since I already ate in a purely Mediterranean restaurant, I kind of know that some of the cuisines that they had were not even Mediterranean. We only had a few dishes to choose from and we weren't even sure it was a Moroccan dish. The design of the restaurant was modern which was disappointing. Unlike Arya, the design, furniture, and decorations were really authentic.


For our appetizer, we ordered the Trio Sampler: hummus beirouty, eggplant caviar, pico de gallo. My friends weren't used to the flavors so they did not enjoy eating the food. But I liked it. I especially liked the pico de gallo. And what was really awesome was that the "chips" they had could be refilled. I mean, we ran out of chips, the staff gave us a new plate. I also liked the eggplant caviar. I am not fond of spicy food, but it had a tinge of spice that made it more delicious. This dish costs 350 pesos.



We got the Feisty Moroccan fish & Shrimp brochettes with edamame rice as our main course. Since it had the word "Moroccan" attached to it. LOL. It was delicious. I liked the flavors of the fish. And the rice was refreshing when you eat it. You get this Mao moment. =)) The shrimp was not too bouncy. But it did taste good so I guess that is okay. The price for this is P425



Good thing we had this group mate who was willing to pay 595 pesos on his own. Thank you for rich classmates. So he got the Herb-crusted Lamb Spareribs with Bejeweled Couscous. Weird right? Bejeweled. I did not know what this will look like. It tasted okay. The lamb was just too fat. It was mostly fat and I couldn't savor the delicious flavors of lamb. The herbs tasted weird. My friends were not used to these type of flavors, and they hated it.

If you are not used to Mediterranean cuisine, I suggest you try other dishes. You could get the fish and shrimp. But lamb was too mediterranean. My classmates wanted to barf the food out of their system. But I actually enjoyed it a bit. But I'm still disappointed that it was not pure Moroccan.

I have to point out that they have excellent service. When my glass was empty, they immediately refilled it. One waitress really knew the menu when we asked her what the Moroccan dishes were. But I guess they really had to be good waiters since they have service charge.

Our family usually rates a restaurant and if we would like to eat back there. For me, I guess I won't go back. I was not too impressed with the food. And I'm not willing to pay that much. But it was still a nice experience eating there. ;)
