Red Garlic

Thursday, October 27, 2011

My family ate here last Sunday. We originally planned to eat in Maginhawa, but we first pass through Katipunan. We ate in Silya't Sili in White Plains before and we saw the advertisement of Red Garlic while on our way. So before eating in Maginhawa, we're going to eat in most restaurants in the Katipunan area first. And we decided to eat in Red Garlic. \m/

When we went there, the restaurant was full. I think we had to wait for about 20 minutes for us to be seated. If you hate waiting, I suggest you make reservations. The ambiance was good. (Not that I am an expert in interior design or what) You will feel welcome and comfortable when you go there. There was an area in the restaurant that the chairs were like a sofa chairs, like the ones you find in coffee shops. Their slogan is Read, Eat and Drink. So it just fits the Read part. They have magazine racks as their wall. I'm just not sure if you can read the magazines for free. And they also have a function area. You could split the area in in two, both for a seating capacity for around 10-15 pax.

We had our waiter, and he was really awesome. He always checked up on us. Even though he had so many customers to cater to, he made sure our orders were complete and we were happy with the food. He did not even look haggard unlike the others. I like him. Excellent job!

So for the food, we ordered Fried Mozzarella Sticks for our appetizer. I tried too many mozzarella sticks already, I didn't find anything special with it. But what was special was their salsa. It was different. It actually tasted like spaghetti sauce. The downside is that this was the last dish that arrived before the dessert.

My brother got two dishes. He just ordered the Red Garlic Signature Roll. But we don't think that's enough for him. We kind of made it our appetizer. It was the first dish that arrived anyway. The sushi tasted awesome. It was very crispy thanks to the fried tempura. It had spicy mango sauce. I dislike spicy food, but I loved it. I wasn't too spicy. Just enough to make the dish more exciting for the taste buds. And there was a generous serving of sushi.

The other dish he got was a pasta dish, Santorini. From their menu, it is penne in their very own roasted roma tomato-cream sauce with crabmeat and rock shrimp. I didn't find it too special. But yes, it was delicious.

We ordered the Trio Pizza where you can choose three kinds of pizza flavors. It was awesome since they had a lot of unique flavors. I suggest this one if you really want to taste their pizzas. They served delicious pizzas. The crust was perfect. However, the pizza wasn't that big. Maybe it was not enough for my family since we love eating.

My sister ordered the Barcelona or Lengua con Setas. It was soft and tender. Oh! And the rice was cool. It was shaped like a pyramid. Awesome right? My sister's teeth or gums were hurting so she couldn't finish her order. Too bad. But if I had to compare this to other Lengua dishes we ordered, this one is more than average. I took this picture since I was so amazed with the pyramid rice. HAHA

I got Crusted Chicken Mozzarella since I love cheese and chicken. And them together is just heaven for me. The chicken was very crispy. The chicken was covered perfectly with cheese. It wasn't overflowing with cheese like I want to, but it was good for me. They didn't serve rice with this but potato wedges. The gravy was also good. You can eat the chicken with or without the gravy. It's good either way.

My parents got the Tomahawk Grilled Porkloin Chop. I loved it. It was a Mao moment for me. It was tender. There was not too much resistance with the pork. Whatever they marinated it with was yummy. The rice was also a pyramid!

We don't usually order desserts when we eat outside. But thank you parents for allowing us to get dessert. I forgot the names of the dessert, sad. The desserts were amazing! But they had unavailable desserts so we settled for what we ordered. But even if we didn't get what we originally ordered, we were still satisfied with what we got. I wish we could have tasted more of it.

So overall, I love the food. It was really delicious and my siblings agree. I would go back and eat their other dishes if I had the money. However, the prices were a bit expensive. I can't afford that if I went there by myself. I suggest you save up a bit if you want to eat there.

Oh yeah! They have awesome water glasses. Super cool. \m/ And a picture of my favorite food and me in the world, cheese. My best friend. Parmesan Cheese.

And my sister took some of the pictures. Credits to her!
