So Long

A great man has passed away. And he is Steve Jobs. I may not be the biggest fan of his products. I mean, I do want to have all his products. But we really don't have the money to actually the money to buy it all. However, I guess no matter how expensive his products were. You are ensured that there is high quality in every product they sell. Not only has he touched my life with his apple products, but because he was a part of Pixar. I am a big fan of Pixar movies. The movies have changed my childhood. I'll surely miss him. Thank you Steve Jobs for being an inspiration to all of us. You showed us that we can be successful by working hard and dreaming big. You showed us that cancer should not bring us down. Thank you Steve Jobs!

Happy birthday Larry!

Won't type anything long but I'm going to tell a small story of me and my friend whose birthday is today! She is my highschool mate and we were on the same play in our fourth year. We weren't close then but ever since we entered college, we were close. We didn't usually hang out. But since we were in the same college, we would spend a lot of time together. And I love her to death.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LARRY! \m/

Mock Interview

I just had my mock interview a while ago. I was really nervous. And my friend and I actually didn't know that we had to have three copies of our resume/CV. Good thing the professors/panel were kind and let us photocopy our resumes. My friend came first. While waiting, there was another person who I chatted with. And he taught me on the basics. Here's what I learned:

First knock three times.
Greet them a good afternoon and tell them your purpose for going there.
For giving out the resumes, hand it out to the girls first then the elder male.
Go near the chair, but do not sit yet. Wait for the interviewers to ask you to sit.

So, I applied all of those. But I didn't know that I should give my resume to the elder male first. However, my entry was good. Then they asked questions. They also acted as people from the establishment I wanted to apply to. Ms. Ricasio was the HR Manager, Mr. Flores acted as the General Manager and Chef Jocen was the executive chef. There was a time that I said that I wanted to be in the bar area. Chef asked me the recipe of different cockails. My mind went blank. For the last part, they also asked me what questions I had for the establishment. And their comments for my interview were:

I spoke too fast
When I'm nervous, I tend to speak really fast.  So, they couldn't understand what I was saying since I spoke too fast.

Mind my mannerisms
I was holding an envelope and I kept turning it around and doing everything and anything I could do. I should be aware of what my hands were doing.

Fix my hair
My bangs were not really in place. I'll probably use wax rather than gel.

Don't mention family
I was asked why I wanted to apply in Boracay even though I haven't been there. I mentioned my mother. And that wasn't good. It might mean that I was forced to be there rather than a choice.

Study all about the establishment I want to apply to.
I was asked what questions I had to the company. And I asked what type of restaurants did they have. Fail. I should have asked regarding shiftings, peak seasons of the company and more about the hotel. I should know a lot about the establishment. And the reason they asked if I had any more questions is that because it shows that I'm really interested to be there and I'm curious in the operations they had.

Study more.
I told them I wanted to be in the bar area. However, I didn't even remember any cocktail recipe.

But I was still happy since there were good comments. Ms. Ricasio told me that I was able to answer the questions well. And she also pointed out that I looked confident. Chef told me that it was good that I mentioned my experience in my old trainings. And I'm really happy that somehow they told me that I was a good communicator since I was able to answer the questions with confidence.

And that was the mock interview experience. I'll remember these pointers and hopefully I improve. \m/

Bon Chon Mondays

My friends and I ate a Bon Chon today. I really love their food. As in, I really find it delicious. But one chef said that it wasn't yummy. but I beg to differ. We have different tastes. I'm content with that recipe already. However, I got my food late. But I didn't really get mad. I mean, I already experienced how service is. And it is definitely not easy. The waiters were panicking due to the number of customers they had. I guess they weren't not used to the number of people in Taft.

And there. I just blogged where we ate a while ago. HAHA!

Brother's Birthday

My day started going to Mass. It's the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Right after the mass, we ate. It was so fun  since there was a band. They played super happy songs that you would dance to. I was supposed to take a picture of the priest. But he was dancing with someone. Apparently he was not a Catholic priest. The people were wondering what Church he was in. He was like a party crasher (Well, according to my parents). But he was nice. When he passed through me, he complimented me. =))

We also went to a birthday party of Janel. Did not get to take pictures. We got lost on the way there. I also saw Moonleaf already! Too bad we didn't have the time to pass by there. But the main highlight of today is that it's my brother's birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DEAREST BROTHER! \m/

So I just found out that I didn't have a picture with him. I cropped this picture. Well, my brother is not the brightest. But he'll surely be there to help you when you need help. And I abuse his kindness too much. But I'll really try not to anymore. He doesn't deserve the way I've been treating him. I really love my brother. I'm sure I'll cry when he's gone. I hope he's having an awesome time at MOA in the convention. Happy birthday Kuya Daan! I love you.

Friends I got in Oakwood

Last Friday (September 30, 2011) after class, I went to Home Depot to visit my co-OJT friends at Oakwood. I was so touched when they called me to go after class. I'm not really the memorable type or the person who gets along with everyone. There was a funny story when they invited me on the same day.

So my wine appreciation class started with review for a test. My professor got pissed off at those with incomplete requirements and all. She made those leave the class and not take the test. I think she had a change of heart and gave them a chance to still take the test. But they'll be having a deduction to their scores. When I was calling my classmates, the girl in the purple blouse called. However, I didn't know that she was the one who answered my call since I was calling my classmates. I was shouting at her go back to our room and bring a yellow paper. Then she said something like "What nonsense are you talking about? This is Elise." I was so embarrased.

When I went there, my friend Arn teased me that I was a student of Benilde and I had no yellow papers. As in, I was laughing so hard. Anyway, too bad I didn't stay for long. I did not even ask permission from my parents. So I stayed there for 15 minutes I think. Even if I stayed for just 15 minutes, I was so happy. I may not have spent time with them like my blockmates or my high school friends, but I was so touched that they still thought of me.

Thank you God for good friends. :)

How To Really Enjoy a Bar Management Class

This was my article for our bar management magazine project. It was really fun to do even though I hate writing and designing which I both do not have any talent for. I just realized on how much I miss my bar management classes already. And wine is not really something I would enjoy. I don't even like the taste. But I'll never know.

I saw how my article said to bring a camera. That made me think of bringing it tomorrow for my wine appreciation classes. Hihi. Now I'm kind of excited. :>

A September Typhoon

Today classes were suspended thanks to Typhoon Pedring. Too bad. I know we all hate going to class, but it's better than all the flood happening. Since I have nothing to post, I'll just post a picture! A flower. Typical. =))

What I Got From my EUROTUR Homework

Egypt is in the Middle East even though it's in the African continent!

Egypt is considered to be in the Middle East due to their culture and international ties with the Arabian Peninsula. The country is part of the Arab world and is greatly involved in the Middle Eastern politics. Many of the citizens of the country are Muslim who also conduct their pilgrimages in the Middle East.

Russia's landmass is huge, but it's part of Europe.

Majority of Russia’s landmass is located in Asia but it is considered a part of Europe for cultural reasons. The Slavic, or the ethnic Russian, are purely European culturally. The majority of the population lives in the European part of the country as well. In terms of politics, the former USSR premise is also located in Europe.

Turkey is European.

Turkey is considered a part of Europe even though its landmass spreads on both the European and Asian continent. However, the country has been recently adopting the ways of the West or Europe. Turkey has been integrated with Europe by being a member of several organizations such as Council of Europe and the European Union.

Even if Switzerland is in the middle of all those European countries, it is not one of them.

Switzerland is not part of Europe because she refused to be a member of the European Union based on two principles which is democracy and neutrality. Switzerland has been in a neutral stance and avoiding creating alliances with other countries since 1815 and the citizens have also voted on rejecting to be a member of the EU.

All information and pictures are from google search. I do not own anything of the information here.

I just had to write a blog entry about the story I'm about to tell since I want to reminisce about this. So I'll just write on what happen today from 2:40-4:10 which was my INTELAW class.

The professor announced that we were going to have a test on all topic from the beginning to the last topic which was the Treatment of Aliens. She never told us that we were going to have a test on all topics. We decided last meeting that we were only going to have a test on topic we were reporting. The whole class even voted on it. I think she forgot that she said that. She kept saying that she never mentioned that. But a classmate talked to her and the professor agreed to move the test on Wednesday.

Then when we were about to start the discussion, my other classmates came in late and kind of delayed the whole class. Suddenly one classmate told the professor that it was flooded in his area and caused him to be late. The professor and that latecomer had an argument of some sort. (Which I think triggered the professor)

Next, when the professor was finally discussing. She asked the class a question. No one answered her question. Another strike. Last, when she was talking again. There were two girls who chatted noisily which annoyed the professor. The next thing we knew, she shouted at the class, cursed at us and walked out. Before exiting the door, she said we'll be having our test after 30 minutes. What was annoying was that she came back in 5 minutes and told us that we were going to have our test already.

I was a bit annoyed since I was not able to answer the questions. However, I guess no one is to blame. I should have memorized the lessons.

However, I wasn't annoyed at the professor because of that. It was our group's turn to report our topic Treatment of Aliens. Each group mate had their own topic to read and report on. Although, I had a group mate who was not fluent in English and could not pronounce words properly. So as he was reading his report, he could not pronounce some words and was chuckling when he couldn't read it. But that's just the way he is. He laughs at the world. Maybe to save himself from embarrassment but that is what makes him unique. The professor then made a comment that he did not prepare. She said that it was obvious that it was his first time reading it that he can't even pronounce other words. That was a foul. It was not totally an issue of the person's diligence, but his being already. It just pissed me off on how she's judging my group mate because of that.

And that's how the class ended. Oh yeah, my group mate apologized to me which I thought was unnecessary. Why apologize for something you did not intentionally do. It was naturally like that. Anyhow, another international law class on Wednesday. I hope nothing like that happens ever again.

Can I Trust You?

Today, batch 109 had their last YHE teambuilding. It's sad but true. I was only supposed to be there half a day only, but since it was our last I asked my mom if I could stay. Thankfully, she approved. It was a really fun experience. I mean, playing games again. Things have been recently so stressful. I guess I can thank YHE for helping me decrease the stress.

So highlights of the team building for me was the amazing race, chicken teriyaki and trust fall. The amazing race was really fun. The truth is I hate doing that, but something about the race was fun. Maybe it was because I wasn't a participant. HAHA. I was just a runner. We were the Poseidon group with mostly 110 people. I think all of them were from batch 110. Good thing we were not the last group to finish. The group took too long at the God of War challenge, too bad. But still fun. \m/

Chicken teriyaki was delicious. PERIOD. I'm really amazed at the batchmates. I mean they were able to cook something so yummy. And last was the trust fall. I experienced the trust fall during the batch 107 last teambuilding. We did the activity and it was quite fun confusing the people around. However, there was this one girl that I pushed that really made my trust fall experience unforgettable. When I was about to push the girl, of course I asked the question. Do you trust me? And she answered yes. The moment I pushed her, she held on to my arms and she brought me down. Good thing we already had a bed. If not, I would have been seriously injured. So yes. Quite an experience. And that meant that she didn't trust me. =))

Fun day. Too bad I don't have pictures yet. I'll update this once the photog committee uploads the pictures. :>

Things I miss

It's not a recent picture. But I miss these days when I used to hang out with these people. This was taken at 7th High in the Fort Bonifacio. I went here after my fine dining event. It was actually a bad night, I felt sick and all. But it was a fun night nonetheless. It was actually my first time to enter a VIP area of any club or bar. It felt cool being on the top floor seeing all those people crowding while we had so much space. Well, I hope this happens again soon. :> We all have been very busy and we haven't hung out like this recently. Maybe after a few months, this will happen again and I'm already excited. :D

Wicked

So we had this school play when I was in high school. I played as Elpaba and my friend was Glinda. It was such a good experience. I'm not really the best singer nor actress out there. I mean, I don't always get the notes right and I say my lines like it was too rehearsed. But I was so happy to be cast as one of the lead. This will be an experience I'll never forget.

I miss the stage. I don't regret joining. And what I regret is that I didn't continue the play when I was in the sixth grade. What the funny thing was about the play was I never did really memorize all my lines. But it was good that I was able to remember some of my lines.

So there's this guy who's beside me in the picture and he's going to leave tomorrow for the United States. It's quite sad that he's leaving. I'm not really affected. I don't even think I'm going to miss him too much. =))

But he's a good friend. He's someone who I could tell my problems to. Not all my problems, only certain problems like organization problems, practicum problems. Basically, school problems. He gets along with everyone. And he's a really helpful guy. I mean, when I need help especially last term in my bar management subject, he's always there to help. And! When I needed help with my flair tending, he's there to help. Though I suck at it. HAHA. I have this certain flair memory with him. Last time when I went to this bar seminar and lots happened etcetera. And when I asked him to teach him a certain move (Throw Behind the Back), he did not leave my side. And he even made like a strategy to help me to do it. He stepped on both my feet. Actually, just one foot. He asked someone else to step on my other foot. Anyway, back to the topic. He noticed that I bend when I should just twist my body.

If you want drinking games, he has all kinds. I'm exaggerating. I'll miss our drinking times 'cause of his hilarious games and the memories that come with it. So yeah. We'll probably talk through Skype of facebook. And if ever he read this (which is probably impossible 'cause I won't even mention his name here so it won't appear in google or what), I'll miss him. See him after a year. And when he gets back, we should definitely eat at Aycee already.
I bought this for my sister last August. I decided to take a picture of it. I bought if for such a cheap price. :> I guess, I'm never too old for toys.

Garnish

Haven't blogged for a while. Been buying doing stuff. Lots of school stuff. Haha! Oh well. I just really wanted to blog that I was so proud of what I did. My garnish was the best out of 20 other people. I'm more interested in bar operations nooooow. \m/

My picture for english cover didn't send. The pictures were only from my low quality camera phone. I apologize for the ugly photos. My professor! Mr. Sir Julius Hill. His name really has a Sir. So it's weird when you call him, Sir Sir! =)) And he's taking a shot of our set-up. Proud. :> I'm too lazy to edit the pictures.

Drink of the Day: Beer

Kind of tiring day. Had my medical exam. But I still have to go back there since there are times in a girl's life that she can't do anything. And I had that. :( Then went to school. Still had to set-up the room. Good thing we didn't need to do anything big like put table cloth and other design in the room.

Not too fond of beer. We also made jello shots. \m/ Kind of good. Fun to make. At least I now know how. :> Also tried out blowjob. I was able to layer it a bit. Kind of. But the bailey's kind of mixed when I put in the vodka.

Pictures!

Shot of the Day: Bacardi

I got another Bacardi shot of the day title. But this time our topic is really about Rum. This was the first time I actually felt this dizzy. @-) And my two classmates were really drunk. It's so funny. =)) Just pictures of the drink.

New Shoes

Bought new shoes today. We went to NBC tent for the Shoe in Love bazaar. I actually didn't really like the shoes. I mean, when I saw it I wasn't like WOW. But I didn't want to leave the place without buying anything so I settled for that.

Still feel sick but better compared yesterday. I also went to Jason's sister's debut last night. I spent like only 30 minutes there. Too bad. I left earlier but my friends got lost on their way to the venue so I waited for them in the parking area near the venur for 30 minutes. Oh yeah, I saw Geeno, 110 ushers understudy.

Also had our fine dining last night. It was fun, but I felt like barfing. Food was good but I was really sick. He was also sweet, he waited for me.

New shoes and cupcake souvenir!
