Bulgogi Brothers part 2!

Got to eat here for the third time with my family. (I ate with my classmates again for our project) I was really happy they enjoyed it there. It is not the cheapest food. However, the price is really worth it. It was delicious the third time around. The pictures were taken by my sister using her iPhone. ;;)

As usual, they served free appetizers. Too bad I couldn't taste the kimchi and salad since it was spicy. The pickled vegetable was not so spicy. You can ask for more of this if you want more.

The real appetizers. The one on the left is the Dubu Steak. We got 6 pieces with a price of 245 pesos. I didn't expect that it would be that delicious. The tofu wasn't too soft that it would be when you get it with your chopsticks. And the sauce was really yummy! And I don't know the name of the one on the left. That was also very delicious.

We tasted Janchi-Guksu which is flour noodles in seafood broth. Very good as well. Bouncy noodles, full of seafood and more.

Our family still ordered the Bulgogi Brothers special. I recommended this one to them since it is really good for 2-3 people. We are a family of 5 who eats a lot. A LOT. But this was able to satisfy our bellies. Not only was the food delicious, but the serving was generous.

This is new. We never usually order drinks in a restaurant. However, my dad ordered the Korean wine (picture on the right). I recommend this if you really want to taste the liquor from Korea. And this is perfect for Filipino taste buds because of its sweetness. Though the alcohol content is quite high so be careful. Oh yeah, they have a different flavor of tea. I just learned that you could order both cold and hot tea. If you're not a fan of drinking hot tea, you could get the cold one.

You can't separate Bulgogi Brothers and good service. They give this when you get your bill. Adorable. You really feel welcome in their restaurant. \m/

2011 Christmas Wishlist

Something horrible happened to me yesterday. Now because of that, I had to do my Christmas wish list all over again. I need those things more than what I initially wanted. And my sister was awfully kind of her to ask for my wish list for Christmas. I'm so jealous that she has lots of money. But the bad part is that she won't be given money by my parents anymore.

Things I want for Christmas are...

Lenovo Laptop Charger. I kinda don't have a charger for my laptop. I would really need this to be able to do my school work.

Make up kit. I really need that for school. I just need something that would make me look presentable in school. So maybe a foundation, blush on and lipstick.

School supplies. I know it isn't really important. But I don't like asking my classmates for those things. I mean, it is annoying. What I need is.. A stapler, staple wires, scissors, glue stick, correction pen, highlighter, another black gtec.

Money. So that I can save up to buy a new itouch. And maybe an earphone as well.

Bag. I have lots of bags already. But I just want a new bag. Preferably a jansport one.

My ultimate wish is to be able to recover my bag which seems impossible already. Oh well.

Merry Christmas everyone! ;)

Sacre Coeur

Sacre Coeur in Paris. You can go there by taking the metro, and go down Anvers on Line 2. It was a kind of short walk, and you would pass though different souvenir shops. You could go shopping there. It's cheap in a way. Interesting thing about this, the whiter the walls are, the cleaner the air in Paris is.

Oh, tip. Do not talk to the gypsies there especially those who are offering the friendship bracelets. We were told that once you entertain them, they will never let to go and force you to pay for the bracelet.

I miss France <3

Vatel Paris

Last November 9, 2011, we went to eat in our mother school, Vatel Paris. The sad part is that we paid for the food  so we felt like we weren't not welcome. I didn't really like the food that they served because of the strong flavors. It was too strong and heavy. But even if we paid a large sum of money for the food, I was full from the first course. (It was a four course meal by the way) I guess the money was worth it.

The names of the food are in French based on the menu card given to us.

Enjoy looking at the food.

Kapitolyo Food Trip: Milky & Sunny

Milky & Sunny is a kind of new restaurant in the Kapitolyo area. Celebrities like the Magalona's have already blogged about this restaurant. So we decided to eat here since it was new. And we ate breakfast there which was just perfect since they serve breakfast all day.

They actually had a variety of choices. You could buy rice meals, pancakes or waffles or cereal. You could get the perfect breakfast meal here. I couldn't actually choose what to eat. I really wanted to eat a lot. We got the Breakfast Enchiladas.

My sister and mom got the Tapas. We were told that this was their best seller. I liked the garlic rice. And their special sauce was delicious as well. I think the tapa was a bit few for the price.

I got my Tomatoes, Mozarella and Pepperoni Omelette. I just love omelettes especially ones with cheese. <3 My problem was that it was not the type of cooking I liked. I liked well done eggs. And it was mostly pepperoni, I wanted more cheese. But it was still yummy.

My brother ordered the Bacon & Spam Pasta. Serving was not too generous. I thought it lack flavors. I wanted to taste more of the spam. And there was few piece of bacon. Yummy nonetheless.

My siblings and I got the Chocolate Hazelnut French Toast. I have no complains with it. I thought it was not too sweet but sweet enough for me.

I loved the ambiance. It was very comfortable. It is a very nice place to eat with family and friends. However, you would need to save a bit for the prices are a bit pricy. You could bring your family so you won't have to spend. (Joke!) I also thought that serving was too small for the price.

If you want something else to eat or drink, there are different stalls beside the store. We have a newly opened Moonleaf store that sells milk teas.

I shall eat here again and taste their pancakes.

Vineyards in Bordeaux

I am really blessed to be able to visit France again. I know my parents didn't really want me to go but thankfully, they allowed me to. One of the highlights of the tour for me was our visit to Saint-Emilion.

Saint-Emilion is a famous wine region of Bordeaux (which happens to be the most famous wine region in France). It is located on the right bank of the Dordogne river. From our lessons in wine appreciation classes, the Merlot grape is the common grape used. I also learned that Saint-Emilion is also considered an UNESCO Heritage Site.

The owner of Chateau Lanoite gave us a summary on how they produce wines. He is really rich. Most wine growers only have a small hectare of land. He has a big chunk of land. His wines are also of high quality.

I was finally able to go to a vineyard and watch how wine is produced.Too bad I was not able to take a picture of grapes that just harvested. In wine making, summer time is usually harvest time. We visited Bordeaux during autumn. During autumn, wine growers would do the vintaging process. From what I remember, vintaging is the process when they would bottle the wines. The vines would prepare itself for winter. Although there were no ripe grapes nor grapes with noble rot, I was still happy to be able to visit a vineyard. It was really cool \m/

Red Garlic

My family ate here last Sunday. We originally planned to eat in Maginhawa, but we first pass through Katipunan. We ate in Silya't Sili in White Plains before and we saw the advertisement of Red Garlic while on our way. So before eating in Maginhawa, we're going to eat in most restaurants in the Katipunan area first. And we decided to eat in Red Garlic. \m/

When we went there, the restaurant was full. I think we had to wait for about 20 minutes for us to be seated. If you hate waiting, I suggest you make reservations. The ambiance was good. (Not that I am an expert in interior design or what) You will feel welcome and comfortable when you go there. There was an area in the restaurant that the chairs were like a sofa chairs, like the ones you find in coffee shops. Their slogan is Read, Eat and Drink. So it just fits the Read part. They have magazine racks as their wall. I'm just not sure if you can read the magazines for free. And they also have a function area. You could split the area in in two, both for a seating capacity for around 10-15 pax.

We had our waiter, and he was really awesome. He always checked up on us. Even though he had so many customers to cater to, he made sure our orders were complete and we were happy with the food. He did not even look haggard unlike the others. I like him. Excellent job!

So for the food, we ordered Fried Mozzarella Sticks for our appetizer. I tried too many mozzarella sticks already, I didn't find anything special with it. But what was special was their salsa. It was different. It actually tasted like spaghetti sauce. The downside is that this was the last dish that arrived before the dessert.

My brother got two dishes. He just ordered the Red Garlic Signature Roll. But we don't think that's enough for him. We kind of made it our appetizer. It was the first dish that arrived anyway. The sushi tasted awesome. It was very crispy thanks to the fried tempura. It had spicy mango sauce. I dislike spicy food, but I loved it. I wasn't too spicy. Just enough to make the dish more exciting for the taste buds. And there was a generous serving of sushi.

The other dish he got was a pasta dish, Santorini. From their menu, it is penne in their very own roasted roma tomato-cream sauce with crabmeat and rock shrimp. I didn't find it too special. But yes, it was delicious.

We ordered the Trio Pizza where you can choose three kinds of pizza flavors. It was awesome since they had a lot of unique flavors. I suggest this one if you really want to taste their pizzas. They served delicious pizzas. The crust was perfect. However, the pizza wasn't that big. Maybe it was not enough for my family since we love eating.

My sister ordered the Barcelona or Lengua con Setas. It was soft and tender. Oh! And the rice was cool. It was shaped like a pyramid. Awesome right? My sister's teeth or gums were hurting so she couldn't finish her order. Too bad. But if I had to compare this to other Lengua dishes we ordered, this one is more than average. I took this picture since I was so amazed with the pyramid rice. HAHA

I got Crusted Chicken Mozzarella since I love cheese and chicken. And them together is just heaven for me. The chicken was very crispy. The chicken was covered perfectly with cheese. It wasn't overflowing with cheese like I want to, but it was good for me. They didn't serve rice with this but potato wedges. The gravy was also good. You can eat the chicken with or without the gravy. It's good either way.

My parents got the Tomahawk Grilled Porkloin Chop. I loved it. It was a Mao moment for me. It was tender. There was not too much resistance with the pork. Whatever they marinated it with was yummy. The rice was also a pyramid!

We don't usually order desserts when we eat outside. But thank you parents for allowing us to get dessert. I forgot the names of the dessert, sad. The desserts were amazing! But they had unavailable desserts so we settled for what we ordered. But even if we didn't get what we originally ordered, we were still satisfied with what we got. I wish we could have tasted more of it.

So overall, I love the food. It was really delicious and my siblings agree. I would go back and eat their other dishes if I had the money. However, the prices were a bit expensive. I can't afford that if I went there by myself. I suggest you save up a bit if you want to eat there.

Oh yeah! They have awesome water glasses. Super cool. \m/ And a picture of my favorite food and me in the world, cheese. My best friend. Parmesan Cheese.

And my sister took some of the pictures. Credits to her!

Kapitolyo Food Trip: Mad Mark's

So I'm trying to rip off the Maginhawa Street Food Trip. Kapitolyo's evolving into something like Jupiter. There are so many restaurants already. Some of which are Cab Cafe, Good Burger, Thai Dara and more. It's definitely exciting since I love eating.

One of the new establishments is Mad Mark's. Located beside Thai Dara. I don't think you'll miss the sign when you get to Charlie's. The exterior looks awesome. Even when it was not open yet, I was curious on the food they serve. I like how it looks.

And that is what you'll see when you get inside. The ambiance is quite comfortable. It's a place that you'll definitely want to spend time with friends and family. Very casual.

I was a bit full that time so I only ordered their homemade ice cream. They have a variety of flavors. I got the Half Baked Madagascar and Javan Hot Chocolate. Half baked Madagascar is like cookies and cream. But they use half-baked dough as their cookies. Then the Javan Hot Chocolate is chocolate from somewhere. Obviously. But the ice cream was just perfect. I mean, you taste the natural flavors of the ingredients. It's not too sweet. But it's also sweet enough for my tastebuds.

The one on top is the Javan Hot Chocolate. And I definitely think that the price is worth it. You get a big scoop. Even if you just order one scoop (which is what my sister did), she was satisfied with it. And it doesn't melt easily.

Since the place is new, we definitely had to order a sandwich. I do not remember the names, unfortunately. Look at the appetizing sandwiches! The meat looks so juicy. Bread is not the usual loaf. Vegetables used just ooze with flavor. One order of sandwich can fill up your tummy already. If you're in a diet, you can share with someone. And one good thing is you can order add-ons. If you want more cheese and whatsoever, just order it. The picture on top is beef while the one below is fish.

My sister ordered fries. This one is the Cajun flavored (I think). My sister ordered this and her first comment was that it was too peppery. But after a while, you get used to it. It's not like the others that you get tired of it. It kinda tastes better after a number of fries. They have another flavor for the fries, herb parmesan. My sister was choosing between Cajun and Parmesan and tried asking me. She didn't since she knew what my answer was. HAHA. And a bit of information, did you know that French fries are called Frites in France? Awesome right. My professor said that if you order french fries from France, they'll think you're crazy.

I will definitely go back here. I'd like to comment on the waitress there, she was very helpful. She knew a lot about the menu, even the establishment. (I know that it's a given that you know about your establishment, but there are actually a lot of servers that are not knowledgeable.) She knew what the homemade ice cream is made of and more. She's also very welcoming. Always wore a smile. So congratulations to her for delivering excellent service.

So if you live near Kapitolyo (or live inside it), go try it out. And I suggest that you order the homemade ice cream! Instead of buying ice cream from the supermarket, you can go eat their homemade ice cream which is 10 times better than those from the supermarket. Happy eating!

I just found out that the New York Pizza Palace in A. Venue is closed. It's really sad. Maybe I'm just affected because I had my debut there. But I cannot deny that they have delicious pizza there. It's cheesy, just the way I like it. And they have lots of flavors that you would want to try.

I guess one of the problems is that the prices are not too friendly to students. But they are actually surrounded by rich people. Even though I really like their pizza, I don't have too much money to spend it on a slice of pizza.

Another problem I guess they have is their location. Not really on where the restaurant is placed in the mall but where it is located, A. Venue. I've seen lots of restaurants or shops close down in that mall. Though the restaurant can be seen clearly, people do not usually pass there. Whenever I crave for pizza, I would choose other establishments since it's nearer. It would be a hassle to go there.

Anyway, I'll miss it. Goodbye and thank you for giving us heavenly pizzas.
